2025/26 Harvest is looking like a good year for high polyphenol olive oils
As the 2025/26 harvest oil analysis comes in for top high polyphenol brands we look at how they stack up and what to look out for including exciting pre-order opportunties.

2025/26 harvests are looking to be very good for high polyphenol olive oils. The Oct/November harvests are now complete and certificate analysis reports are starting to be completed.
This year’s edition of Onsuri's Arbequina is the earliest harvest of the cultivar in the producer’s history as such they have come flying out the gate with their record breaking polyphenol count numbers which are up 18% year on year and now recording a level of 1504mg/kg. Their bottles will be available in January in the UK and pre-orders are now open. Given their reasonable price point of £25.00 for a 500ml and their high polyphenol count this year - its worth getting in early.
The Governor has also released their 2/26 harvest analysis report. Their premium extra virgin olive oil for this years harvest has a total polyphenol count of 1,345mg/kg. Priced at £45.99 for 500ml you are certainly paying for their luxury packaging when looking at their polyphenol count vs that of Onsuri.
While a high polyphenol count is the first indicator of quality healthy olive oil - not all polyphenols are equal and it's important to look deeper into their analysis certificates for the polyphenols that matter.
Oleocanthal is polyphenol responsible for an olive oils anti-inflammatory effects (similar to ibuprofen), anticancer, and neuroprotective effects.
Oleacein is the strongest antoxidant polyphenol and provides cardivascular protection, improvement of lipid profile, and anti-microbial activity.
Healthy extra virgin olive oils typically have high oleacein + oleocanthal together (“the secoiridoid signature”). Below is how Onsuri and The Governor's 25/26 harvest numbers compare.

The quality of these two oils is pretty much on par and stand at the very top for high polyphenol olive oils. Onsuri has the higher total polyphenol count and highest Oleacein count, while the Governor has a higher polyphenol count for inflammation properties.
With Onsuri being half the price - I would highly recommend this oil to those wishing to include a high polyphenol daily to their diet. The pre-order is open now with delivery set for January. For this quality at £25 I would recommend getting your in now before they sell out!
